Turba Kool is an educational institution that is situated in Harjumaa, Northern Estonia. The school has had historically strong sporting background that has diminished in recent years. The current project is called "Õppiv õpetaja" or "Studying teacher" and its aim is to bring international knowledge, contacts and fresh ideas back to Turba in order to positively influence local youth. The project related objectives are to recover and develop sports and outdoor recreation related traditions, renew sports related study methods and equipment; find new international partner schools from overseas; develop and increase participation in sports and other physical activities in Turba and Nissi county and offer international experience for school teachers. There is one person participating in this project. She is a 33 years old physical education teacher Maarja Vinkel. Maarja has been actively involved in shcool sports since 2012 when She returned to Estonia. Maarja has also work experience in related field from the UK and Australia. The participant of project was planned to send to the international sports seminar in Italy called "Sports Forum Mals Italy" from 18-th of July to 24-th of July in 2015. The target group of the seminar are the physical education teachers all over the world. The seminar is well known and valued internationally and brings together professionals from all continents. The program of the seminar is diverse and involves topics that are related to the aim of this project. There is a precisely scheduled plan for successful execution of this project, which is lead by project manager and by board members of the school. The project will be consider successful if after the return of the participant the traditional sports related activities will be revitalized through new methods and knowledge brought back to the community. Introduction and employment of the new study methods and usage of new ideas that support student's development are also important outcomes. Through new contacts at least one new overseas school will be found as an international partner in school year 2015/16. At least two new training groups will be established in the community in the same year, which helps students to have more versatile options for development of their physical body and mind. Longer perspective of this project is to start an annual international project that helps teachers from small places like Turba find international seminars and trainings where they can develop themselves according to the latest knowledge and trends on their field. This creates a prerequisite for sustainable development of healthy community also in more remote areas where new knowledge is more difficult to access.
