Oppilaiden saama tuki italialaisissa kouluissa
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The staff of Rastaala school is constantly developing school's activities. The motto of the school is " We learn something new every day". During the next three years we will concentrate on activating the role of pupils in school work and teachers´ methods of guiding. Our school is the biggest primary school in Espoo. In addition to main stream classes there are 6 classes for special education. All classes collaborate actively with each other and students of special classes study in main stream classes as often as possible. Rastaala School has close connections with two Italian schools on the bases of the former Comenius project and Comenius assistantship. During these former projects the main concern was to promote language teaching and international cooperation. This project emphasizes on the support and guidance given to the pupils, particularly to the children with special needs. Furthermore, it will be useful to monitor teaching in multicultural environment. The hosting schools will be offered an opportunity to take a closer view of the Finnish way of teaching foreign languages. Twelve members of Rastaala School staff will participate in the project, and we will arrange three visits to Italian schools involving four visitors each. The visits will give us new ideas to discuss the future of inclusive special education. We will evaluate the Finnish practices of pupil welfare and compare them with the Italian school. The project is a valuable tool in the development of Rastaala School.
