The foci of our school’s actions are internationalization, internationalization at home and the improvement of our teachers’ language skills, as well as the related Finnish identity in Europa and the European cohesion. Our aim is to improve the international operating culture of Mutala School with international mobility projects. As a learning community, we want to develop ourselves to be more modern and dynamic operating entity. These mobility projects promote teachers’ lifelong learning, professional competence and pedagogy, as well as aims to support pupils’ learning with the new ‘fresh breeze’ teaching stimuli received from international waters. Another focus of Mutala School is to increase and develop the ICT education in our everyday activities and to develop ICT supported education outside classrooms. The aim is to keep up with the developments and to direct the use of pedagogical activities in the future. A modern principal must keep track in the areas of management, information technology, pedagogy and internationalization issues involved. Erasmus+ is a major opportunity for a principal to develop as school’s pedagogical leader, to bring international expertise to their unit and to allow the development of ICT pedagogy directed by the new Finnish national core curriculum (henceforth OPS2016). The subjects of arts and physical education play an important role in Mutala School. Teachers have a lot of special skills and strengths in the areas of music, literature, articulacy and expression, ICT and visual arts. In addition, the improvement of personal competence internationally, is a significant goal of the development of teachers’ own work. The teachers of Mutala School have the knowledge to be shared to other training participants while they are studying new and constructing their own teacher identity. There are four persons participating in the mobility projects from our school. Firstly, Risto Kilpeläinen, PhD, principal, class teacher. Secondly, Tarja Kimpi-Norismaa, M.A.Ed., class teacher. Thirdly, Hanna-Kaisa Malinen, M.Ed.EFL, and lastly, Jyrki Manninen, M.Ed. class teacher. The courses have been selected to further support and supplement the teachers' competences in ICT, internationalization at home and the pupils' cultural identity via art- and museum pedagogy.The results, experiences, ideas, impulses, practices and forms of teaching and pedagogical management that we receive from these international ICT and art courses will be presented in our school’s community as well as on our school’s website, MySpace, blogs and, in the form of training/travel experience, in our local newspaper. Furthermore, the aim is to tell about our experiences to the group of international affairs in the city of Joensuu and to organize a shared international affairs information event to other teachers and principals belonging to our school district. Risto Kilpeläinen works part-time as an expert, designer and educator in AVI (The Regional State Administrative Agency). This opens the possibility to disseminate international education experiences also in these contexts as well as in different educational events and occasions. Another channel to present the results of internalization process is easily achieved through Finnish Educational Research Association’s Education, administration and research special interest group’s (SIG) executive board, as well as potentially Kasvatustieteen Päivät (an annual education symposium where SIG organizes an annual series of educational lectures). In these occasions and events the knowledge of international approaches and pedagogical trends is significant. Risto Kilpeläinen has been presenting results of earlier international projects in a couple of occasions in CIMO and the National Board of Education. After the project, the participants will have new tools in the teacher’s toolbox for teaching, supporting the children’s growth and for the management of the school. ICT-enhanced learning and the teaching of arts will be improved. Teachers’ motivation will grow and new aspects will be gained to design and implement OPS2016. Teachers’ knowledge and understanding of European culture, art, and ICT know-how will deepen. The sense of community is strengthened. New approaches and implementation methods to our school community’s pedagogical management is acquired. Participants’ language skills and the courage to use foreign languages will improve and the forms of practising internationalization at home will be enriched. Furthermore, the participants, and the rest of our teachers, want to continue a high-quality development of internationality in our school with KA2 (Key Action 2) –project as well as to promote international exchanges, so that internationality is a natural part of our student’s ordinary school day.
