Operation: Teachers Enhancing & Advancing their Competencies and Horizons for European Union (#OpTEACH4EU)
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The 3rd High School of Egaleo participated in a seven days training program entitled: "Teachers Enhancing & Advancing their Competencies and Horizons for European Union", with a grant of the European Commission under Action KA1- Learning Mobility Staff Training School of the Erasmus + Programme. Specifically, the training was held in Seville of Spain from 08/02/2016 to 14/02/2016 at the host organization Euromind Projects SL. The mobility included four (4) teachers, members of our school teaching staff during the school year 2015-16, and offered a wide range of 35 hours training, aiming particularly to practical use of Moodle 3.0. The main objective was the practical training of the participants on how to integrate ICT in their teaching as it should be aligned with the needs of modern education and in accordance with the EU recommendations. For this purpose, the training program focused on the implementation of the virtual classroom through the use of the Moodle platform tools, which are widely used today in a variety of educational institutions, offering multiple possibilities in the field of e-learning. Additionaly, the aim of this project was to strengthen participants' teaching skills regarding their intercultural skills, as well as their adaptability based on the current needs of education. All four selected teachers have broad scientific training, distinguished by their professionalism and responsibility, as well as the desire for continuous education and self-improvement. Under the program the trainees have undertaken to carry out various activities, through which they gained experience in using Moodle. Specifically they were navigated to the platform of Moodle and created their own Moodle course, adding communicative, collaborative and personal activities as well as getting exercised in adding internal and external resources. They also gained experience in evaluation methods, creating grading scales as well as backups. Finally they worked as a team in workshop, performing "good practice", which can be used under their own Moodle course utilizing the diverse features of Moodle platform. It should be mentioned at this point that a Moodle platform was installed by the participants in the 3rd Lyceum of Egaleo after their return from Spain. The results of the mobility were monitored and evaluated by the perspective of all involved in this process. Improving the quality of education for our students is the most important result of this project. In addition to that, we also mention the strengthening of social cohesion in Europe, the exchange of best practices, our contribution to the establishment of a new open and creative school, as well as the offering of incentives and the effective sustainability to our students in order to improve their own personal and professional development. By the completion of the training program the participants are able to develop the acquired technical skills to integrate any technology in their classrooms, creating active and experiential learning experiences for their students in order to increase learning interest. The impact of the program was evident in all directions. All the activities and results of this mobility have been posted to the blog and our page on Facebook. It is worth noting that during their training in Spain the participants put forward the Greek culture, as well as the contemporary problems of education in conjunction with the problems facing Greek society, emphasizing the refugee crisis. Furthermore, we organized an in-school seminar aimed at informing teachers colleagues on the use and usefulness of Moodle platform. We also participated in a day conference which was organised by the Third Directorate of Secondary Education of Athens aiming at the presentation of European Projects Erasmus +. Our introduction was presented under the title "Teacher Training in Moodle 3.0". Finally, regarding the impact on the local community, we published an article in the local paper, showing the valuable results of the experience we gained through our participation in this mobility. We believe with certainty that this project is going to have long-terms benefits, as it is aiming to improve the educational community not only in a local but also in a European and international basis.
