Ontwikkeling van talent en tweetalig onderwijs (gedifferenttieerde uitstroom, differentiatie, excellentie, CLIL-didactiek en tweetalig onderwijs)
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Feb 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Summary: The focus of the project in this subsidy application is the further development of the school’s existing broad-ranging international programme. Farel College is a bilingual school that offers en excellent educational programme for learning English (bilingual programme offering IB English A and B) and an extensive international programme focusing on European and international orientation which includes exchange programmes and other international collaborative projects. The aim of this programme is to optimally prepare students for tertiary education. More specifically, there is emphasis on developing talent (in the form of an honours programme), heterogeneity in the graduation possibilities and the use of IT in realizing differentiation among the student population. Context: the project is in line with the long-term strategic vision of Farel College in the area of education (bilingual education - internationalization – differentiation and developing talent - innovation/IT) There are three goals we wish to achieve through this project: - to share experience with and gain further expertise from schools that focus on talent development (Ross School in Stockholm), bilingual education (Colegio La Salle in Cordoba) - to improve the quality of CLIL teachers and English teachers (IB) - to establish new international collaborative projects In order to achieve these goals 5 teachers will follow CLIL-workshops at Hilderstone (UK) and 1 teacher will follow IB (English) related workshops (UK). Additionally, four colleagues will visit the Ross school in Stockholm (Farel College’s third visit) as part of the further implementation of the educational innovations that have been put into practice following previous study trips to this school (heterogeneous graduation possibilities; differentiation; multiple intelligences). As part of the further expansion of the school’s international cooperation, Farel College will be involved in a job-shadowing programme with a Spanish school (Cordoba). Two teachers from Spain will teach at Farel College and 2 teachers from Farel will teach in Cordoba. Finally, we intend to establish contact with more European schools with the intention of establishing further international collaborative projects (in addition to the partnerships that already exist with 8 European schools). The results of the study trips, courses and job shadowing will be set against the objectives of long-term strategic vision according to the PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) methodology. Every element of the project is relevant to the school’s international programme that has been integral to Farel College’s development in the last 8 years. As a bilingual school internationalization is an integral component of our bilingual programme that has at its basis language (English in the case of our school) and culture (internationalization).
