On the trail of the castles in the Baltic Sea region - revitalisation and promotion of the objects

The general aim of the project is to revitalize the Gothic castles in Kaliningrad region and to promote them on the Russian and Polish tourism market through the Trail of the Gothic Castles in the Baltic Sea region. This aim will be achieved by such actions as: the preparation of a strategy for tourism development at nine Gothic castles in the Kaliningrad Region and the elaboration of technical documentation for the castle at Labiau (Polessk) in order to adapt it for a cultural centre. The documentation will make it possible to undertake reconstruction works and consequently to convert the building to serve cultural and tourist-oriented functions for the local inhabitants as well as visitors. The activities aimed at promoting the castles will be conducted using four-lingual information publications about the castles, which will be available at tourism industry fairs and meetings as well as Polish tourist information offices. As a result, the Russian objects will be added to the trans-border tourist trail of Gothic castles located in the Baltic Sea Region. This trail will include 12 Polish and 9 Russian Gothic castles.
