On the job Learning Abroad
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

At School Centre Nova Gorica (SCNG) we have been successfully organizing projects of students mobility for seventeen years. In the Erasmus+ programme we applied for one-year project called "OLA – the job learning abroad". Partnership in the project consists of nine partner organizations. Special feature of the project is the distribution of the activities A1, A2 and A3. In the first part of the activity (A1), we will work with six secondary schools and two intermediary agencies. Agencies have years of experience with the organization of mobility and network business, where students will be on the job learning placement. In the second part of the activity (A2) we have nine different streams of staff mobilities who will be accompanying persons to group of students for first week. The third part of the activity (A3) will be carried out with one stream of staff mobility when two teachers of Slovene language will carry out the job shadowing. We have produced a detailed schedule for the mobility of students and staff in the school year 2016/2017. We plan to carry out 57 mobilities of students and staff. The main purpose of the project is to enable 46 students and 11 employees to gain international experience in a foreign schools and/or companies. Students will spend 3-4 weeks abroad and do the practical training or one of the module, which will be recognized after returning to school. In the first week each group will be accompanied by a teacher. For activities A1 we want to enable students with on-the-job learning placement fields of secondary vocational and technical programs, such as computer science, electrical engineering, woodworking, car mechatronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, logistics, health care, gastronomy, agriculture, nature protection, trade and economy, and we want to recognize their mobility as part of the learning process. In the second part A2 nine teachers or staff will accompany nine groups of students, which will upgrade their exertizes and practical experiences. They will spend only first week abroad, so we have separately marked activity A2 for teachers as accompanying persons, anyway it will be organized together with activity A1. Additional project objectives for students are: to become familiar with education system of host country, to upgrade theoretical knowledge they get it at theoretical lessons, to know better the procedure of work and changes set by the foreign labour market, develop language (communication) and intercultural competences (knowing customs and traditions of new countries) and actively spend free time (get to know with culture and history of host country). We want to speed the cooperation between VET institutions in Slovenia and other countries. Intercompany Training Centre as one of the units of School Centre Nova Gorica in which LLP and Erasmus+ projects are coordinated is working with several organizations in Slovenia such as Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training, The National Education Institute of The Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Education and Sport and other foreign organizations. Over the years we have expanded the network of cooperation with foreign partner organizations. With some of them we signed the Memorandum of understanding. Due to the quality of implementation of mobilities, we approached the project EMEU with partner organization from Netherlands and its huge network with the institutions around the Europe, where we have established a module based mobilities. We accepted around 30 foreign students, teachers and other professionals at Šolski center Nova Gorica per year and this number is growing all the time. They do the practical training or job shadowing here in school or at companies. Reciprocal exchanges enable us to expand the internationalization process at the School Centre Nova Gorica.
