OKULU BIRAKMA PROBLEMİ İÇİN SOSYAL DAHİL ETME- SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR DROP OUT PROBLEM

Our project?s background is based on students who still drop out of school even though, in recent years, there have been many works to prevent the issue. Students who drop out of school early are at a higher risk of poverty and social exclusion in the labor market as well as impeded individual and social development. In other words, the research on drop outs in Turkey and other countries are based on factors of how long and why the student is away from the education system, and during what age and class level the student was away. It is noncontestable that dropping out has a negative effect on both the individual and the country?s social life. Those who drop out are at a higher social risk than their peers who did not drop out. In our project' activities, we learnt the reasons behind the issue, which countries struggle the most and what they are doing to prevent the issue. To increase the knowledge and skills of the youth workers, and the awareness of the youth they reach out to in their locals; for the sake of our future generations to be individuals who have better awareness, by utilizing non-formal education techniques, to show and discuss thoroughly the importance of continuing education and how this issue is prevalent in our lives as it effects the community financially and to make them see this as a social issue and not an individual one are in our objectives. 28 participants from 7 countries took a part in our project. 8 of these participants have economic constraints. The participant profile in our project is as follows: - Youth workers who is already working on psychology, education, the young generation fields. - Youth workers that has interest, skills and experience about non-formal education methods. -People that take a part in youth organizations. The undertaken activities in our project; Presentations on the current situation in Turkey and Europe, PEST and problems / needs analysis, social inclusion simulation, career planning and coaching, solutions, designing training tools for drop out problem. Results and the Impact of Our Project -The knowledge and the awareness of our participants about drop out problem increased. -Our participants' awareness of European citizenship awareness and responsibilities increased. -Our participants produced new tools by combining their new methods with non-formal education methods. -With dissemination activities of our participants on their local level the awareness of drop out problem increased on local level.
