OKULDA ETKİLİ İLETİŞİM VE ÇATIŞMA ÇÖZÜMÜ
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

It is a fact that teachers have a significant impact on development of the students’ personality. In fact, in its general respect, education is a communication process and success in the education can be possible by not only giving the importance to the education and communication but also to the conflict resolution. Many of the problems discussed in the meetings held at our school and at the same time, the results of SWOT analysis which we have done concerning the Students’ individual services have pointed out our teachers’ lack of information in communication and problem solving. Therefore, with our "Communication and Conflict Resolution At School" project, we aim to improve quality of our Students Personality Services in and out the classroom. Participants are willing teachers who are interested in pedagogy and educational science and eager to improve themselves in communication and problem solving. With this project, we aim to improve our teacher participants on unlimited acceptance, empathic attitude, active listening, "I" language expressions, results-oriented in interpersonal relationships, problem solving, conflict resolution and mediation. We have chosen our project partners, the Italian and Lithuanian schools, to do Job-Shadowing on student Personality Services. In particular, the methods used in communication and conflict resolution, techniques and projects, implemented programs, european teachers' roles and approaches will form the focus of the monitoring job. We have planned two mobilities for each schools. Participants will not only have knowledge and make observations but also before and after mobility will share with our teachers so they will be provided to internalize. Before the mobility, effective communication and conflict resolution, comprehensive and developmental guidance topics will be discussed together with the sub-titles by our guidance and counseling teacher in order to increase the participants' readiness. During Job shadowing, for evaluating their observations, the impression in the day, observed activities, used methods and techniques ,our understanding of our training as we can get feedback from different approaches and attitudes, observation forms will be filled in for each participant at the end of each day. After mobility a detailed report containing the acquired knowledge and skills from the jobshadowing observation will be asked and be submitted to our teachers verbally and in writing. After the European Jobshadowing and observation of our teachers, they will be asked to explain our teachers what they have learned, with the group-work techniques and methods in practice. In our Project, we chose the jobshadowing and observation as type of activity because in-service training courses of communication and conflict resolution done by the National Education Ministry for our national educational system, are insufficient in number and also theoretical in content. This case has led us to jobshadowing activities as it is active and practical. Our project will not be content with just the jobshadowing and observations but also before and after mobility in order to develop knowledge, skills, approaches, our participants will be supported and directed by our Psychological Counseling teacher at our school. We will use our project as a tool to improve the quality of students’ individual development studies efficiently. Large number of participants in the mobility activity will accelerate the development process and its effects will be permanent. One of our partner, Muro Leccese Secondary School is working with communication and conflict resolution. They have got PON (Project on Negotiation)in different subjects and have received awards. Our Lithuanian partner; Slaviku Pagrindine secondary School has similar student individual development service system. But according to Pisa test results, they are higher than our country. Thus, by this jobshdowing, we can see good examples of communication and conflict resolution issues and will have the opportunity to practice them at our school. At the end of this project; we aim to create caring, supportive, positive school climate and a solution-oriented school culture by developing our project participants', our teachers' skills in communication and conflict resolution. Thus, our students’ improving their communication and conflict resolution skills through modeling our teachers will be the expected results of our Project and the sustainability our Project.
