Gazipaşa Central Anatolian High School has come up with the project “PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACHES IN SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT” as a result of the needs analysis made beforehand.According to this needs analysis,the students suffer from psychological effects such as; low level of motivation,anxiety disorder,lack of self e-steem,future anxiety,negative beliefs and emotions,difficulty in controlling anger,violence tendency,communication disorder with parents and teachers,discipline problems,low success because of negative attitudes towards school and thus becoming isolated from school and lack of making reasonable decisions.The same analysis shows that;our teachers need assistance in using teaching and learning materials effectively and practically in the classroom ,increasing the motivation and dinamism level,solving negative behaviours and discipline problems by using the skills that will develop positive emotions towards the lesson or the school,modern psychological approaches making students more responsible and self-confident. With the help of our project “Psychological Approaches In School Development”,the goals we want to achieve are to; solve and reduce stress levels and develop the necessary abilities to manage emotions,create strategies on how to deal with and eliminate violent or aggressive behaviour,understand the causes of physical and mental health issues within the teaching profession,improve interpersonal relationships within the education environment,identify limiting and negative beliefs and transform them into positive and supporting ones,learn a variety of tools and resources to apply in the classroom to create well-being and to reduce early school leaving. The main activity we have included in the period of our project is;having our teachers Nursel Bişkin(school counsellor) and Hülya Özdemir (English teacher experienced in Comenius Multilateral School Partnerships which she had coordinated in her former school and also willing ),who are the chief members of the School Counselling Services Commission, participate in the course "Energy Psychology in the Classroom to Reduce Early School Leaving" in Alcala de Henares University in Madrid/Spain between 7th and 11th July 2014 organised by Cervantes Training. At the end of the course,the participants will be able to;develop a more collaborative approach towards pedagogy,solve and reduce stress levels and develop the necessary abilities to manage emotions,create strategies on how to deal with and eliminate violent or aggressive behaviour,understand the causes of physical and mental health issues within the teaching profession,improve interpersonal relationships within the education environment,identify limiting and negative beliefs and transform them into positive and supporting ones,learn a variety of tools and resources to apply in the classroom to create well-being,become more creative and skillful in designing the teaching environment with various materials and making students more motivated and eager to learn. Being more educated and skillful in the field,our participant teachers of this course will organise seminars,meetings and some activities for the teachers,students and parents both in our school and in other schools in order tos hare experience,skills,metodologies and knowledge with them.Our Project activities will be carried out via both face-to-face activities and local media as well as school web page by providing information and useful metodologies. By joining those project activities of us;the participants will be able to create a confident and active learning experience by applying the strategies and techniques that they learned and offer practical solutions to negative emotional,mental or psychological effects or problems. The products and outcomes of our project are; brochures, presentations, videos, questionnaires, seminars, photographs, reports, different kinds of documents and a project magazine that will be prepared at the end of the project year including all the activities carried out within the period. All of the project outcomes will be open to access via the school project corner,local newspapers,the brochures and other shared documents that will be distributed to other organisations in the city and the school web site. Thanks to this project,our organisation will improve internationally developing a European dimension and gain experience and motivation to take part in long-term partnerships by keeping in touch with other European schools and teachers,thus being a model for other organisations.
