Okkar raddir
Start date: Oct 1, 2008,

The project proposed is a National Youth Initiative which will be completed by four young Icelanders. The project involves the production of a documentary film based on interviews with five immigrant children in Iceland. Furthermore, to complement the film an innovative guide, detailing discussion topics and projects related to the subject of the film, will be created. The purpose of the project is to combat increasing xenophobia in Iceland and to promote tolerance in an era of multiculturalism. Members of minority groups, especially young people, rarely get the chance to voice their opinion in Icelandic society. This project could hopefully begin to remedy this unjust imbalance. The project will be executed within a period of twelve months and involves several steps. In addition to producing the film and developing the accompanying informative materials, the packaging and overall design of the materials produced will be completed. Subsequently, the project will be presented to the Icelandic media as well as target audiences around the country. A project of this nature can be utilized for years to come.
