Öka IKT-, språk- och ledarkunskaper för vuxenutbildningspersonalen
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The background to the project is a long-standing partnership between the Blekinge municipalities (Gränslöst) where there is an agreement to cooperate between them, for example, if Karlshamn municipality can not offer a requested course, our adult students shall have the opportunity to take the course in another municipality within Gränslöst, eg Ronneby. It has so far been difficult to get this to work fully and therefor a decision has been taken by the headmasters that it is now or never that this needs to get started. Two teachers from two different municipalities have been given the responsibility from the principals to investigate how this could be done with the help of ICT. The teachers have looked around at different solutions and seen how others, such as secondary schools in some of the municipalities in the Gränslöst cooperation are working together and found their solution satisfying. However, we can not join their system since it is based on a static school year with two semesters. Since we have continuous admission and individual pace of study, we need to have a system that is designed for this . After looking at various technologies the conclusion is that Moodle is the best solution for Gränslöst. In parallel, Karlshamn been awarded a government grant to increase resources for the students who have study difficulties, mainly those with various forms of diagnosis, where we aim to take part and therefore need to have staff with the right skills. The government grant will not cover our staff's training, but only those who were employed in central municipality and we therefore see Erasmus+ as a good opportunity for our staff to get the training needed. In order to smoothly get started there has been a proposal as follows: - One person appointed as chief systems administrator for the entire platform - ( At least ) one person in each municipality shall work as a local administrator and provide support to other teachers - It is up to each municipality to decide how to solve the competence of its employees - A pilot project will start as soon as possible, and no later than the 1st of September , the e-learning platform should be up and running so that the teachers from the different municipalities can communicate with each other in subject-specific course rooms, for example all language teachers in Gränslöst has its course room where they can have subject specific discussions , IT teachers have their own and so on. During the autumn it will be continuously evaluated. No later than January 1st, 2015, all teachers who teach in distance courses must have created at least one classroom in Moodle and started to work with their students on the platform. As we approach the end date of the project, we will make a major evaluation among both staff and students to see what they think about it, what needs improvement/changes, etc. If the results are positive, we will proceed with a new project to involve all staff in this. At Vägga adult education in Karlshamn we have chosen to rely on the Erasmus+ as part of the skills needed for this project. Our local objective is to aid the professional development of our staff and the organization itself . Since we have many students who do not have Swedish as their mother tongue, it's in our interest to also develop the staff's language and cultural skills to meet our students in a professional and respectable manner. By focusing on skills that staff are interested in, we get a more engaged organization, which we also believe will rub off on our students who then achieve better results and will go further in their personal development. In Karlshamn, we have a large number of our students from other EU countries, which we see open up opportunities for various European collaborations in the future. The teacher who in 2013 went on a Grundtvig scholarship established contacts with teachers across large parts of Europe, where there is now a desire to be able to start up collaborations between schools in different countries, both for the staff and the students' sake. We see that this project definitely can lay the foundation for such a project in the future, for example, the learning management system can be the foundation for an international exchange. Parallel to the study platform being implemented our staff who will be responsible for the technical part of the adaptation to our students with study difficulties/disabilities will work with city staff and get inspiration from this group to implement these skills in our organization. The staff who have registered an interest in this first stage is one special education teacher , an IT teacher, a science teacher, a health teacher, a language teacher at the SFI (Swedish For Immigrants)/elementary school level and a language teacher at the secondary school level.
