Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is a private school of primary education at Izmir in Turkey. The total number of students in the year 2014 is 643. The school has 87 educational staff. Our school has a professional development plan in order to improve the competences and skills of its educational staff. The main areas of improvement that were identified are: to enhance and strengthen their digital competences, to learn and familiarize themselves on the use of e-learning and e-teaching tools and online resources, to learn, develop and acquire knowledge to implement inquiry-based education methods and other innovative teaching methods and best practices in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) domains. With this application, we will support the participation of our school's educational staff in training activities organized within the framework of Erasmus + that will give them the opportunity not only to learn and develop their skills but also to meet, to collaborate, to cooperate and to share experiences, challenges and methods with colleagues from other European countries. The competences, skills, and experiences that our school's educational staff will acquire by participating in the training will be fully acknowledged, accredited and integrated into their professional development track record which is taken into account for professional promotion to higher rank. The participant teachers will be selected by a selection committee that includes the school's director and the head of teaching departments through individual interviews that will guarantee the best match between the course's objectives, applicable per-requisites to participate, and participant’s skills, proven and expected competences and needs according to the school's development plan. The training courses consist of preparatory and follow-up phases in addition the actual course period which is a weeklong intensive course that includes keynote lectures, workshops, social/parallel activities. The learning objectives and outcomes will be assessed and documented in an evaluation report. The impact of the course framework is that the participating teachers will be immersed in the process of inquiry via their interaction with collection of digital educational resources, tools, online labs and be exposed to innovative best practices linked with the science curricula applied in their country but also increase awareness of developments that are taking place in other European countries. These resources and methodologies do not impose a fixed curriculum but support the development of a model that can be customized to reflect location and culture, and thus are ideal to be used in the European context and their use can further strengthen the course's social cohesive and its Europe-wide dimension within the learning mobility of individuals key action of Erasmus + programme.
