ODRAPISUERGA OPENS TO EUROPE
Start date: Jun 6, 2016, End date: Jun 5, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Foreign language training and the development of common education policies are essential in the European Community. The rural areas in general , and our students in particular, have to cast their career expectations in a united Europe, without borders for the mobility of European citizens and able to share experiences and tasks which can make us more competitive in our career expectations and more tolerant on a human level . Our School is trying to facilitate these training options so that our students have the same opportunities as other European students, That´s why making them aware of the need to support the bilingual education and making a bigger effort in foreign language training is our main intention With this common objective in mind we have designed this project, which in short wants to achieve the following goals:• To improve both the teachers’ and the students’ communicative competence in the foreign language.• To acquire new skills in CLIC teaching to improve our bilingual programme.• To train teachers in new methodologies to make the teaching and learning process more efficient. The cooperative teaching methods based on projects (PBL) could be one of the methodologies to develop. • To work harder in our TIC plan to provide teachers with easier tools to use the new technologies that we already have in our school, so that students can benefit from them deeply.• To get in touch with teachers from other European countries to learn from their experiences and to collaborate together in future projects.• To contribute to spread and promote the European dimension of Education, making our teachers and students aware of other educative and cultural contexts.• To promote a positive attitude in our students towards the project of the European Union, to surpass the limits of their rural context so that they can identify themselves with other European countries to share culture, history and common values. In this way, we have designed our school project, to carry it out in one year and it will assure the mobility of four teachers to Ireland and/or the U.k. With the new knowledge and experience they get in the courses, they will all improve their communicative competence in the foreign language and they will try new methodological proposals as well as getting in touch with other cultures and guidelines from other teachers of the European Union. They will share with their European colleagues opinions, didactic resources and materials and they will get the chance to create new contacts for future common projects. The participant teachers belong to the English department, the Physical education department and the Geography and History department. We are all aware of the importance of diffusion of this project among the educative community. We will do so in the different meetings we have with the different administrative sections within the school like the staff meetings, the pedagogic counsellor, parents’ meetings and the didactic departments representing different subjects. Moreover, such an important project as Erasmus + is must be spread to other institutions; we will send press articles to be included in the monthly published magazine from the local Townhall as well as organizing an interview for the local television. We will follow up the project in the school’s web for our students and their families to get to know our aims in the project and for other schools to get encouraged to participate in European projects. It is also important to design a good assessment process, for which we will involve, as we had already pointed out with concrete proposals in the project, to the different members of the school community, such as other teachers, parents and students, everybody coordinated by the Principal of the school. We have already expressed in detail the means to get this assessment process done (interviews to students and parents, other teachers’ reports), as well as other indicators to measure the project’s impact and success depending on academic results, participation in other European projects, application of the new methodological principles which have been learnt, etc. Future impact or benefits from the project:• Improvement in the linguistic competence of teachers and students.• Put into practice the new methodologies used in the classroom.• Contact with other teachers from different nationalities for future collaborations.• Increase in the participation in European projects for both teachers and students.• Improvement in the students’ and teachers’ attitude towards the bilingual programme and the European Union. The benefits from the approval of this project in a long term future will contribute to the European dimension of the Education concept. Our educative community will receive an extra encouragement and motivation to participate in future projects when they get aware of the positive outcome of the exchange of experiences with other teachers when using English.
