OBSERVACIÓN DE BUENAS PRÁCTICAS Y FORMACIÓN PARA PROMOVER EL DESARROLLO PROFESIONAL PARA UNA EDUCACIÓN INTERNACIONAL
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Eras de Renueva’ is a high Europeanist inclination High School in León (Spain) in which we teach the Spanish curriculum as well as four distinctive Bilingual Programmes, two of them being ‘Spanish-English’ and other two ‘Spanish-French’ languaged. The students are 12 to 18 years old and belong to families highly concerned in their education, with a special interest in the learning of foreign. In the current year all the available school places are occupied, with a total number of 1040 students who are taught by 92 teachers, 25 of whom are directly involved in the bilingual programmesThis Project is aimed at those teachers who explain their subjects in English (CLIL) or French (EMILE) as well as the ones who teach English and French as first languages. These teachers are highly devoted to the bilingual curricula and have very different professional profiles even though they have been working for several years in a coordinated way. Out of these teachers, 15 teach Languages and 10 the non-linguistic subjects such as Science, Geography, History, History of Spain and France, Biology, Technology, Arts, Music and Physical Education. The proposed activities aim to develop the linguistic and communicative skills of the teaching-bilingual programmes teachers and the renewal of the didactic methodology in those specific subjects which are explained either in English (CLIL) or French (EMILE) as well as to develop the skills in running and organising techniques aimed to enhance the European dimension of our school. The proposed activities are the following:- Structured courses about CLIL and EMILE methodology, how to improve the language, tools for assessment and strategies and techniques to motivate students (6 teachers).- Structured courses with training and an observation period abroad in a school (8 teachers).- Job shadowing (2 teachers)With these training and observation courses we want to continue improving the skills acquired by the teachers involved in the summer courses funded by a 2015 KA1 and supporting the professional development of these and other teachers of our school. The methodology of our Project is based on the participation in training activities and the accomplishment of the information flows so that that training would be useful for the whole educative community. The Heads of the involved Departments and the Coordinators of each Bilingual Programme will be in charge of guaranteing the information flow whereas the dissemination of the outputs will be carried out, as determined by their competences, by the 'Comisión de Coordinación Pedagógica' , the 'Claustro de Profesores' and the 'Consejo Escolar'. Likewise, BLOGs will be created to collect and disseminate the activities and experiences which will also let us know the users' opinions. As far as the Project Assessment is concerned, it will be based on measuring the satisfaction and fulfillment levels of each of the participant groups (teachers, students and parents) and it will be done by checking the impact by means of quantitative and qualitative indicators which will be gathered up and scrutinised by using simple collecting-information documents. Other tools of dissemination will include brochures, open-doors-days, activities to celebrate the European Day of Languages and the participation of our teachers as trainers in activities for teachers of other bilingual schools. The Project expected impact is the accomplishment of skills and strategies to successfully face the challenge of the educative process in bilingual environments from both the linguistic and the methodological sides, so that both of them be critical to achieve success in the whole process. In our school, the most important impact will be on the students engaged in the bilingual curricula since they are the target group to which the attained skills would be applied. Moreover, the enhancement of the bilingualism atmosphere at the school will let improve the transversal transfer of these benefits to the rest of the students organising different activities focused on them. What benefits could we expect on the long term? An undeniable benefit or advantage of this Project will be the increase of the teaching practice quality which will directly affect the learning process of the students. Apart from this, we can take into account another aspect which is the reinforcement of the internationalisation of the educative process in our school. In the European environment in which we move both physically and virtually by means of new technologies, the learning of languages, the fluency in their use to study and produce outputs and the mobility of teachers and students to improve their skills become keystones for the educational systems to prepare the new citizens for a global world.
