Obogatimo pouk z metodo CLIL
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Primary school of Livade Izola is going to implement English for young learners from the 1st grade in the school year 2015/16. Our School is located in bilingual area of Slovenia and our lives are close to Italian language. In last few years the community of Izola is becoming more and more intercultural area and we are getting accustomed to live with many other cultures. Because of the immigration of foreign people the knowledge of foreign languages is becoming an important part of successful learning. We think that the learning of English as an L2 is an important aspect of internationalization and the connection between different cultures inside our community, and brings us possibilities for the connection with foreign countries hereafter. A Primary teacher who has also finished a Study program for teaching English to young learners will be inclouded in this project. The teacher would like to familiarize with English people, their culture, their habits and traditions, and to learn some new methods for teaching English, especially the CLIL method. Knowledge and experiences, that she will get st the CLIL method course in United Kingdom, will increase the quality of teaching English as a second language and they will give pupils some extra knowledge of vocabulary, which they probably wouldn`t get in a regular study. She will also share her experiences with her colleagues and with students of the Faculty of Education of Koper. She will make an agreement for collaboration with other participants of the course from other schools in foreign countries. This will increase the motivation of our students for learning English and improve the international connection of our school. The introduction of the CLIL method on our school will increase the student`s knowledge to a higher level. Students will get some new and different vocabulary, and they will be extra motivated for learning a foreign language. We expect that mobility of our teacher won`t just enrich the English lessons, but it will also reinforce the cross-curricular integration, the connection with other schools in foreign countries and it will pass on some new knowledge to other teachers in our country.
