Obesity and cardiometabolic risk management in students from Timişoara and Szeged University Centers (RISKRED)

The project aims to provide financial and logistical support for launching a joint cooperation programme between the Timisoara University Centre and University of Szeged. The project also facilitates joint development of Timisoara-Szeged cross-border cooperation and strengthening social and economic cohesion, enhances the quality and efficiency of healthcare management and prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic disease - the main problems responsible for increased morbidity and mortality in this geographical area. General objective:Strengthening cooperation between specialists in the border area for the healthcare and prevention of obesity and cardio-metabolic disease.Specific objectives:1. Evaluating the prevalence of overweight and cardio-metabolic risk factors in students from both University Centres.2. Increasing life quality of students by lifestyle coaching programmes.3. Reducing the obesity burden in students and preventing the onset of related disease.The main activities of the project are: purchase of specific equipment, educational training stages and evaluation of the body composition and cardio-metabolic risk in the target group.The target group of the project is composed by 1000 overweight and obese students (600 from Timisoara University Centre and 400 students from the University of Szeged).Among the project results: 8 joint events and 6 joint training sessions targeting obesity risk factors.
