Search for European Projects

NUEVOS TIEMPOS, NUEVAS ESTRATEGIAS
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Every school needs to undergo a continuous process of self-criticism and renewal. In the case of a bilingual school like ours, the renewal process should be even more demanding, in order to make our students able to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive and multilingual European society. With respect to the I.E.S. Az-Zaít, it has been detected a serious lack of motivation in students, as well as a high rate of early school leaving, which is well above average in our autonomous community. Despite Being our school also pioneer and innovative both in integrating CLIL methodologies and new educational tools, as well as in the participation in European projects of entrepreneurial culture. It is unavoidable that we rethink the whole process in order to find solutions. After analyzing this issue, we come to the conclusion that there is the need to support the teachers training, by enhancing four broad fields, such as the school management, new teaching methods or tools, the European dimension and the linguistic competence, with the hope that this intervention may be manifested in a clear improvement in our students learning. To achieve this purpose, we have performed a search for appropriate training, by choosing structured courses aimed at improving the linguistic and cultural competence, such as Talking to People and English & Culture and other structured courses oriented to a better use of new tools and technology, such as CLIL for Teachers and Robotic School, a management oriented course in schools, School Development and Quality Evaluation & Enhancement in Secondary Schools and visits to Finnish and Icelanders schools, as contrasted examples of good practice in structured courses (with a clearly related profile to Job Shadowing), Structure Study Visits to Schools/Institutes & Training Seminar in both countries. The teacher selection process will be based on very clear public choice criteria, tailored to each of the proposed mobility, given a specific profile of teachers for each course and an overall score. It is intended the participation of most of the teachers involved in the bilingual project. The project was developed in four different phases: 1. Previous training: It will take place at both linguistic update as in the specific aspects of each of the mobilities. In this regard, the partners will primarily be those providing appropriate means for such training. 2. First mobilities: After the training period, the first mobilities will be those related to aspects of linguistic and cultural renewal, being elected in this respect Talking to People and English & Culture. These activities last a period of two weeks, so the summer holidays will be appropriate to perform them. 3. Specific Mobility: Mobilities of various aspects related to improvement of new tools (CLIL, ICT and robotics) and management will be performed. 4. Learning of good practice: we will participate in different structured visits, from which we could achieve new and valuable examples of good practice in various European institutions. As a result of this process, the diffusion wil be reflected in the virtual involvement in two editions of the International Conference Hands-On Science, in the creation of the APP and magazine, the collaboration on lectures for teachers, the implementation of working groups, the participation in the Regular and GEN II Football Challenge WRO, Open Days and, of course, in the wide difussion provided by the Internet and other social networks and media. The entire project will be properly assessed, both in development and in terms of impact achieved in participating in the school and the educational community as well as in the local, national or European environment. Not only objective data related to school performance, which are, in short, the main objective of the project, will be assessed, but also issues such as the promotion of cooperative work, the implementation of new educational methodologies, organizational changes and the participation in new European projects. We intend, therefore, that this initiative involves a radical transformation in our school, developing an enriched bilingual instruction which may successfully face the educational demands of today's society models.
