NUEVAS TECNOLOGÍAS, EMPRENDIMIENTO Y CLIL PARA LA MEJORA DE LAS COMPETENCIAS.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Benissa is a coastal town near Benidorm which is dedicated mainly to the service sector, and the Secondary Education School plays the role of district centre. The teaching staff of the school is very interested in introducing the multilingual programme during the school year 2016-2017 in order to improve the drop-out rates (about 22%). The leadership team will be an important part of the project aware of the scarce previous experience in the school internationalisation. A monitoring commission has been created to check periodically the accomplishment of the project. The basic objectives are to reduce the number of drop-outs in the school as well as to prepare the students in core competencies which are necessary to enhance employment opportunities and to improve the youth unemployment rates. The teaching departments involved in this project are Economy, Geography and History, English, IT and Technology. This project is designed to be carried out in two academic years; thus, the teachers' mobilities are distributed during the summer of 2015 and 2016 so that we provide sufficient time to the elaboration of materials as well as to the teachers' formation in CLIL methodology. The candidates selection process will be carried out in a clear and transparent manner, allowing the teachers to do the mobility. All the candidates will have to meet some minimum criteria previously established. The Erasmus + monitoring commission will oversee the travel arrangements and the participants' stay. Our school will take out a health insurance and a travel insurance. Both the formation and the language certification that the teachers may obtain in their mobility will be included in the EUROPASS CV. Moreover, they will also make use of the European Language Passport. The application of the CLIL methodology is not only interesting for the teaching of subjects in English, but also for the teaching of subjects in Valencian (our co-oficial language in the Valencian Community). Thus, those teachers doing the mobility during the fist summer will train the other teachers involved in the project about the elaboration of didactic units in English and will inform all the teaching staff in the school about CLIL methodology, so that it can also be applied in the subjects taught in Valencian. By means of this new methodology we will try to improve the educational attainment of both our national and foreign students (25% of all). Once the first mobilities are carried out, those teacher involved in the project will form four working groups supervised by the regional Ministry of Education in the Valencian Community, in which materials for those subjects taught in English will be elaborated. Besides, four e-Twinning projects will be started out with that very same aim as well as to exchange our experience with other European secondary schools which share our same needs and aims. All the materials elaborated by the teachers will be published as Open Educational Resources (OER). Furthermore, the leadership team will draw up an investigation report in order to know the experiences in other educative centres which have already launched a similar multilingual plan, to foresee any possible mistakes or errors in its implementation. At the end of the first year, an informative talk about multilingualism and CLIL strategies will be given in La Marina University Venue located in Benissa, where the elaborated materials will be presented. The subjects that are going to be taught in English during the academic year 2016-2017 are specified within the project. Most of them are in the 3rd year of our Compulsory Secondary Education. During that year, we have planned to participate in five e-Twinning projects in which we look for the active participation of our students. The projects will have the common bond of the 3rd year of CSE. Our final goal would be the mobility of those students during the 4th year of CSE in the academic year 2017-2018, with the realisation of a KA2 project, which will undoubtedly contribute to the sustainability of the project. A final and unifying activity will be the production of a theatre play in English with the students of 3rd of CSE. A last e-Twinning project will be created among European students in the same course level. The students will get in touch with their alter ego from the European centres to exchange their impressions about their role. The play will be filmed and uploaded to the internet for a major spreading of the project. The training in CLIL will have a direct impact on students. At the same time, the families will be more involved in their children's education because of the high number of foreign residents in the town. In order to measure the results of the project, the Erasmus + commission will monitor and control the accomplishment of the project. The results obtained by the teachers will be measured by means of external language certifications as well as the quality of the created materials.
