Within the project, departure of three of our teachers for a one-week methodological and lingual course, implemented in an EU country – Great Britain, was planned. The main assumptions of the course were to improve: the knowledge on methods, techniques, strategies and teaching styles that promote creative and motivating way of learning English; knowledge of current changes in the educational system of Great Britain and development of tendencies in English language teaching; English language skills, exchange of ideas and experience as well as cooperation with teachers of secondary schools from other European countries. The objectives of the project were determined jointly by teachers and the headteacher, based on the needs of the school and its employees, so that the benefits of the trip apply not only to the participants, but also to the whole institution. The project helped to achieve the main goals which were to improve the quality of education in the Vocational School Complex in Giżycko in certain areas by improving the competence of teachers of English and to establish international cooperation. The project was attended by three teachers of English: Mrs Marta Tyszko, Miss Natalia Rommel and Mr Artur Wojnowski. Implementation of the project provided the opportunity to develop a model of raising professional and linguistic competencies among education staff with the use of international mobility, which contributes to improvement of the quality of teacher education and training. Implementation of the project and the actions taken by the teachers after returning from the course, aiming to implement the acquired knowledge and skills, contributed to creation of the positive image of the school in the local environment.
