Nowoczesna szkoła, równe szanse.
Start date: Dec 15, 2014, End date: Dec 14, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The shrinking world in the era of globalization together with the EU priority of international mobility necessitate teachers, school career counsellors’ and students good command of English. Besides enhancing the interest of Polish secondary school leavers in studying abroad, finding suitable offers from foreign educational institutions, helping learners choose their educational career in various foreign countries the school's duties should also include trying to show its students the most profitable and desirable career paths. Therefore, we believe that nowadays secondary schools should put more effort into teaching science, biology, chemistry, IT, mathematics and languages. All science subjects and foreign languages are seen as those making students and future workers more attractive on the modern labour market. Our project is a part of our school European Development Plan which should be seen as a long-term activity. This project is the very first step on our way. To start, we believe we should improve our teachers' language abilities, thus, we seek courses improving our teachers' foreign communiation skills. We see this step as the way to enhance and make our teachers able to exchange ideas on teaching methods and innovative techniques connected with science subjects with teachers from other European countries. The school also believes those teachers will be able to coordinate international projects involving students cooperation and dealing with learning science. The next step of our project involves improving our English teachers' competences connected with teaching English in medicine and English in business. We have already decided to incorporate these two new subjects into our school's curriculum. We now need qualified staff to perform the tasks. As a part of this project we have also planned a language course for our school career counsellor, because nowadays it is difficult to imagine performing these duties (seeking job offers and understanding university recruitment procedures) without a working knowledge of English. When this project proves to be successful we hope to create other projects involving students /teachers international cooperation. We hope to work on projects trying to gain funding of our school chemistry laboratory and IT labs as well as some money for organisnig additional courses for students intrested in medicine, IT and physics. We see this long -term plan as a chance for our school to transform into a modern institution focused on what todays world really need. All in all, the main idea of our plan is to focus our school, students and teachers on subjects which are now necessary to find job which would be satisfying. We would very like to make our students aware of the fact that science, languages, creative thinking are their key to success. We would like to make them believe studying abroad, working abroad in their field of interest and being as attractive for future employers as ther peers from other European countries is possible also for Polish students from the town on the north- west coast of Poland.
