Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project „Modern education - the way of strengthening key competence in the teaching of disabled students” comes out of the needs underlined in the long term strategy of the school development. One of our goals is to bring a new dimension and innovative solutions from an international perspective to the field of working with intelectually disabled clients and so enhancing the base of our existing learning strategies. In our project we are planning English learning courses for the Headteacher, teachers of general subjects and English language teachers. Skills and competences achieved during the courses let us fully participate in further specialist courses: e.g. ICT/multimedia in education, drama in education. Apart from the knowledge and qualifications achieved on the courses we wish to have a chance to cooperate with similar institutions, schools, which work in a similar discipline as we do in the area connected with intelectually disabled clients. In our agreement we have planned job shadowing mobilities with two schools each from Spain and Turkey, one school each from Romania and Belgium. The main targets of our project activities: -Strengthening and improving our competence in English language, mastering of teaching methodology. -Learning new innovative skills and specialist, professional knowledge on international courses especially in the area of implementing ITC tools concerning: ways of building up clients motivation, effective usage of multimedia tools during the learning process, drama as a supportive tool in special education allowing as a result effective ways of expressing emotions and solving problems. -Looking for modern innovative forms, methods, tools and learning new ways during job shadowing visits in similar European institutions . -Prospect for inspiration, new sources and teaching tools in creating new educational and therapeutic programs concerning activating clients and teachers. -Initiating and developing international cooperation in the field of education and rehabilitation of intellectually disabled. -Mutual experiences and good practice on international level, discussions how to overcome difficulties and failures, finding solutions and new strategies in work with this category of clients. Project mobility and as a result implementing new skills and abilities in the school will be conducted by an eight member team recruited from our teachers. The main criterion of recruiting the team is based on members competence, experience, individual potential and personal abilities. Our partners in the project are institutions with a similar profile to ours. The schools from Spain, Romania and Belgium are known to us from previous eTwinning projects. The school from Romania was our partner in a Comenius project. The schools from Turkey and Spain are visiting our school shortly, in the area of job shadowing. We hope and expect to have many chances to exchange our experiences and share our knowledge with our partners. After the courses and mobility, the participants of the courses will share the knowledge and experience with the rest of the teachers working in the school in training sessions. We are planning to undertake actions targeted to our clients strengthening their key competences to help them in adapting new achieved abilities applied to everyday life environment. New technology may play the important role. We presume that new contacts multiply the possibilities of common activities undertaken by our clients and their foreign counterparts. The project is perceived in our school as a chance and opportunity for change, improvement and development especially in the international aspect of strengthening the position of the teacher. We expect that through this contact we gain valuable experience and enhance our abilities. It gives us a new prospect and set new directions in the strategy of our school. Better understanding of language, culture, social differences, improving our ability to cooperate are valuable chances for better understanding and finding solutions in the context of social and economic change.
