Participants of the project “Innovation in EU Hair and Beauty Care Service Sector by Establishing Prosperous Conditions for Autonomous Career Development” are vocational teachers training hair and beauty care specialists from Vilnius Zirmunai, Kaunas Naujamiestis, Panevezys Labour Market Training Centres, Klaipeda Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Centre and Panevezys Vocational Training Centre. The main objective of vocational training institutions is to provide high quality service aiming to satisfy needs of labour market and clients. Stakeholders‘ survey results indicate that learners as well as representatives of social partners recommend modernization of vocational training programmes. Vocational training of hair and beauty care specialists is being implemented in accordance to vocational training programmes which have been last approved more than six years ago. It is natural that during this period labour market requirements and needs have changed. Individuals training in accordance to the curriculum do not acquire competencies necessary for successful work. Meanwhile teachers who train hairdresser specialists lack for knowledge and experience in issuing innovative labour market needs satisfying vocational training programme. Selection of specialized technological trainings for teachers who train hairdressers in Lithuania is very much limited and the service is quite expensive. To meet the needs of vocational teachers and improve quality of hairdresser training by issuing a non-formal hairdresser vocational training programme a mobility project on behalf of consortium is being carried out. The main objective of the project “Innovation in EU Hair and Beauty Care Service Sector by Establishing Prosperous Conditions for Autonomous Career Development” is to develop professional competencies of hair and beauty care specialists and to update vocational training curriculum by emphasising significance of creativity and enterprise capacity education on learner autonomous career development. Project tasks are the following: 1. To develop technological competencies of vocational teachers who train hair and beauty care specialists. Development of practical skills will provide knowledge and experience for improvement of vocational practical training. 2. To summarize experience obtained during the project and to issue a non-formal vocational training programme. During a two week internship in the United Kingdom vocational teachers will develop technological competencies in the following fields: tendencies of daily/ evening/ occasional hairdressings, modern haircut techniques, haircut styles, tendencies of hair dyeing. Participants will get ideas for improvement of vocational practical training by developing ones‘ practical skills. Additional activities are planned within the project. Observation of local hairdresser theoretical and practical training lessons is integrated. Observation activities will allow the teachers to find out to what extent foreign colleagues applying informational communicational technologies to hairdresser training. They will acquire knowledge in methods used for education of individual capacities such as creativity, enterprise, career planning and its autonomous development. In order to satisfy teachers‘ needs necessary for issuing a modern and attractive vocational training programme the practical and observation types of activities are established. Whereas major part of the internship activities cover development of teacher technological competencies. Visit to the United Kingdom will take place in September, 2014. Hosting organization Almond Vocational Link has a reputation of a reliable partner on the basis of previously held common projects. Project will be administrated by experienced project team members. It is a one year project. Participants of the visit will summarize acquired experience and issue a non-formal vocational training programme for hair and beauty care specialists. The programme will be introduced to representatives of Panevezys region vocational training organizations which provide hairdresser training. An open day at Panevezys Labour Market Training Centre will be arranged in April, 2015. Secondary school graduates from Panevezys town and region will be invited to visit the event where practical demonstration of acquired competencies will take place. In this way it is planned to increase attractiveness of VET.
