Nous, femmes d'Europe!
Start date: 01 Aug 2014, End date: 31 Jul 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We, Women of Europe! We are a group of 10 young women aged from 15 to 16 years old. We live in Villefranche de Rouergue, little town in Aveyron, rich in social and cultural diversity. Les Ateliers de la Fontaine, an organisation for the education of all, is setting-up social and cultural activities for young people aged 11 and upwards. In this regard, supporting youth projects is the most important role of the organisation. Following on from a national youth initiative about culture and citizenship of the European Union, led by some young people and the organisation, we met with the leaders of Les Ateliers de la Fontaine in order set up an exchange project on European scale. The idea is to work with an other group of young Italians about the woman's place and rights, and gender equality in Europe. The aims of our project are: to encourage reflection on a European scale about a subject that concerns all of us; to encourage European mobility for other young people; to show skills developed through this kind of experience; to make young people want to get involved in European projects and to be active in life in general. We decided to work on this project with Sarzana, a town twinned with Villefranche, notably to strengthen this twinning in which young people don’t have a voice at the moment. Two trips are planned, one in each town, where the groups of young people and their leaders from of the two countries will meet up. There will be a total of 29 people. Several occasions for reflection will be planned in order to discover other’s culture, and think about gender equality in Europe. The final aim of the project is to jointly create three “communication tool” (video, board game, exposition), translated into Italian, French and English, in order to promote the work, involvement and effort of these young people, and to promote European mobility and citizenship. A preliminary visit is planned for August 2014, in Italy, to complete the technical details of the project. Although this visit is not financed by the Erasmus+ program, six of us wish to be part of it because we have created and lead this project since its beginning. Therefore, we will raise funds to finance this visit. The first trip and meeting between all the young people will take place in Sarzana in Italy. This project is in a first time a solution in order to invest young people in the twinning. We hope to other young people from other nationalities will take part on our project, "We, Women of Europe", in order to continue our action across Europe. Hopefully our action will go further than that and a strategic partnership or youth conferences, for example, could be considered in the future.
