Notos 16
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project outline "NOTOS 16" aims at broadening the knowledge of 16 vocational teachers, trainers and educators in terms of the similarities and differences between the vocational training and curricula of the German "vacancy occupation" gardener (Qualification level "Upper secondary education" ISCED 3B) regarding the countries Germany and Greece, with cultural sensitivity. With this in mind, the proposed national project MobiPro-EU is designed to offer apprenticeship opportunities of the "dual model" in Germany to up to 3.000 youths from all over the EU. Additional financial support shall facilitate the students' ability to successfully and independently complete their apprenticeship starting in August 2017. All vocational trainers and stakeholders (like instructors and apprenticeship stakeholders) from the Rheinhessen-Nahe-Hunsrück region are welcome to participate, as is anyone who contributes to the project as a whole. The overall aim of the project is to offer a contribution to finding solutions for the shortage of apprentices and qualified personnel in Germany as well as for the possible reduction in youth unemployment rates in the home region Chania/Greece beginning in August 2017 (unemployment rates in the home region were 43% on June 30th, 2015).The methodology includes joint conferences at the vocational EPAS-OAED schools, reaching from self and group study to field trips and interviews with professionals, which may be continued informally after the end of the official daily program. In summary the project aims at modernizing and internationalizing SME-Companies in the field of horticulture, in lieu of a current shortage of apprentices and skilled workers particularly in the field of gardening. The focus will be on the possibility to employ people with socio-economic difficulties from EU countries, in order to provide them with additional positive life perspectives.Through the acquired knowledge the "dual model" apprenticeship for gardeners in Germany shall be geared towards also meeting the examination requirements in the participants' home country, so that the German credential will become easily transferable to Greece. The individual learning results are described and certified in the 'Europass Mobilty'.
