Notes Of Europe
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

NINE MUSIC SCHOOLS FROM NINE CONUTRIES GATHER AROUND THE INNOVATIVE NOE PROJECT IDEA TO DEVELOP MULTILINGUISM THORUGH MOBILITIES AND THE SPECIAL LANGUAGE OF MUSIC. TARGETTING STUDENTS (13-18 YEARS) THE ACTION WILL POSITIVELY ACT ALSO ON TEACHERS, THE WHOLE SCHOOLS STAFF AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES. As indicated in the COM(2008)566 by the EU Commission about multilinguism: mastering several languages increases employability and allows to choose from a larger number of job offers.Often at school, foreign languages are not lived as special occasions of growth and chance as they should be and students demonstate themselves as not interested. For this EU Commission advice to develop the acquisition and recognition of language skills outside the formal education systems. It's exactly in answer to this reccomandation that NOE gathers 9 European schools to offer their students innovative ways to appreciate language diversity and LEARN TO LEARN them in a funny and informal way helped by the special mean of MUSIC. "A different language is a different vision of life" said the Italian film director Federico Fellini. Learning another language gives the learner the ability to step inside the mind and context of that other culture.Without the ability to communicate and understand a culture on its own terms, true access to that culture is barred. Why is this important? In a world where nations and peoples are ever more dependent upon on another to supply goods and services, solve political disputes, and ensure international security, understanding other cultures is paramount. Lack of INTERCULTURAL SENSISTIVITY can lead to mistrust and misunderstandings, to an inability to cooperate, negotiate, and compromise, and perhaps even to military confrontation. INTERCULTURAL UNDERSTANDING begins with individuals who have LANGUAGE ABILITIES and who can thereby provide one's own nation or community with an insider's view into foreign cultures, who can understand foreign news sources, and give insights into other perspectives on international situations and current events. For survival in the global community, every nation needs such individuals. A person competent in other languages can bridge the gap between cultures, contribute to international diplomacy, promote national security and world peace, and successfully engage in international trade. Since the purpose of education is to prepare individuals for life and to instil a sense of DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP; and to do so for all learners, regardless of socio-economic and cultural differences, schools are the first education agencies that are called to work in this line. It's in response of this that thie project idea was born. The 9 partners, all agreed that a specific joint action for multilinguism should have be done because quality education and training fuel inclusive, sustainable growth as learning outcomes translate into the productivity and innovation of the working-age population. The crisis has brought to light that sometimes education systems prepare children for a world that no more exists; in this light the 9 partners together have created the present integrated innovative approch to foreign languages learning. Activities planned are of 3 types: -inside the schools -between the partners -in local communities NOE will work with students by investigating the core role had by MUSIC in creation of the EUROPEAN CONCEPT in all the Countries involved. GEOGRAPHY and HISTORY will become MUSIC. As it happened in the 19th Century that for spreading the European Union ideas the thinkers created a virtual agorà where to meet, in the same way NOE wants to reproduce a new agorà for making meet cultures and languages. Glue of the relations will be MUSIC. Students will be protagonist of the whole action. Working in the priority of MULTILINGUISM, main objectives of the action are: - activating interest towards different languages - improving English language competence - developping mobilities - learning a basic vocabulary in the language of the Coutries involved -developping intercultural skill -enhancing students mobility and the circulation of music works -overcoming social exclusion and discrimination -connecting music schools and exchanging best practices and cocreating new ones -sharing and exploring the relationship between music and personal and cultural identity -exploring the city life in the partipating countries -encouraging the dialogue between people from different backgrounds -promoting the idea of cultural diversity in the local communities -activating a positive view of the European Union -developping interest and competence in other schools staff in applying for ERASMUS+ grants Core target of the project are students aged 13-18 belonging to the music and dance section of the schools involved but the activities and the methodology planned will invest also in the teachers, in the whole schools staff, in families, the whole local communities and also local decision makers.
