Estonian National Youth Council (ENL) is a recognised organisation protecting the interests of youth associations and enhancing all forms of cooperation between them, so that youth participation and youth initiative would be valued in the society. Project "Youth Shadow Elections in Tallinn and Tartu before the Election of Local Governements" supports the participation of young people in the society. The aim of the project is through a good learning experience to increase youth interest in every day happening around them, and to encourage them to notice and help out where needed on local, national or international level. It is not only the outcome of the elections that is important, but the process of non-formal education/learning and the information the youth receive. ENL holds several events as debates, simulations and information days at schools and youth centres.Shadow elections are held from the 5th till the 8th of October in schools over Tallinn and Tartu. Shadow elections are held before real elections of Local Governemets on the 18 of October.Our partners are Tallinn and Tartu City Governments and NGO Tartu Youth Council, also Finnish Umberella organisation for youth organisations Allianssi and Helsinki City Government.
