Nízkoprahové programy pre deti a mládež
Start date: Jul 7, 2014, End date: Sep 6, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project was focused on skill development of foreign volunteers in the area of work with children and youth in the capital city of Slovakia - Bratislava. The secondary target group were children and youth (the clients of the organisation), who had the possibility to meet a person from a different environment. Simultaneously, the volunteers prepared a variety of activities, which also helped to increase their skill level. Creative, sport or art activities were alternated with long conversations about different cultures. Volunteers were regularly a part of the low-treshold programs in multiple locations of Bratislava and they acted in the following areas: 1. Free-time activities (football, basketball, creative workshops, floorball, board and group games) 2. Tutorage, help with school assignment and conversation about school (different education systems, graphomotoric excercises) 3. Work with children in preschool age (graphomotoric excercises, learning of colours and numbers, games) 4. Help with organisation of community events (Sídlisková pohodička, Cyklocinema, Low-treshold cup, Floorball cup and others) 5. Administrative assistance (project translation from Spanish to English, dealing with mail, copying and printing of documents) With this project, we empowered growth of the volunteers and the youth they have been in contact with. Children and youth had the possibility to become acquainted with different cultures and languages, and to travel vicariously (through the conversations) to Italy and Spain. Our volunteers developed their creativity, responsibility, organisation skills, time-managment and social skills (empathy, handling of critical situations).
