NINE. New Ideas, New Europeans
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project “NINE. New Ideas, New Europeans” was promoted by three different organization: - the association Officina Creativa Interculturale (CO and HO, Italy); - Református Szeretetszolgálat Önkéntes Diakóniai Év Programiroda (SO, Hungary); - Consilium Development and Training Ltd (SO, United Kingdom). The project took 9 months, from the 1st of January to the 30th of September 2015. The EVS project is created with the intention to stimulate the european active and democratic citizenship, trough daily and regular workshops with children from different countries. The multicultural dimension of Palermo, that characterizes the Kindergaten of the association and the schools where the association is active, offered a positive context in which different languages and cultures meet each other. The project involved two volunteers from Hungary, interested on intercultural education with children and adults, italians and immigrants. Their service took 6 months. All the activities, developed with volunteers, adopted non formal and informal education as methodology, based on active participation of learners. The expected results and impact were linked to the spread of active and democratic citizenship, european dimension and multilinguism, among young people, in the local community but also in the international context. The longer term benefits will be visible into the behaviours and the competences developed by young people who have participated to the EVS project, but also into the involved children and families behaviours.
