Start date: Oct 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project Background, Number and Profile of Participants: The project leaders at the bilingual BHAK have selected 20 participants to take part in an exchange to take place between the BHAK and a pre-determined school in Slovenia. The selected students, who have shown that they are both linguistically and techically competant, will be further prepared for future work in the so-called Alpine Adriatic region. Project Goals: Upon completion of an internship at the partner school, students should have an inhanced understanding of technical, social, and linguistic skills. In accordance with the Slovenian Motto: Friends today, Business partners Tomorrow, these exchange, students will have the opportunity to network and form connections with students from the other school. Carrying out the Project: Project management assists the participants before the start of the internship (predeparture information, insurance, planning of the journey, retrieving contracts and letters of intent) during the internship ( chaperones will be present in case any problem should arise, etc) and afterwards (Help students to finish final projects, produce a small booklet concerning this exchange, etc). In the final phase there will be a presentation of the project to business and media representatives. Description of Activities: The participants will complete an internship in an international field and become active local activities connected with their host school. Description of Desired Results and Effect, Long-Term Benefits: More and more, the economic situation in the EU is calling for workers who have experience internationally and excellent language skills. Through this project, participants will be able to not only acquire valuable international experience but they will also be able to develop new language skills, which are specific to their desired fields. Another objective of the project is to foster open-mindedness in young people, to decrease xenophobic feelings and to increase the number of responsible EU citizens. International work experience should motivate participants to look for jobs abroad later in life and to use their practical skills in international business as well as in jobs in their home countries. They may even benefit from this experience while they are still at school. In addition, having to communicate in a foreign language in everyday situations will reduce students‘ inhibitions in using this language actively in school and will certainly help them to successfully pass their final exams in this subject. Last but not least, working with international colleagues should also have a positive effect on the students‘ personality, should increase their awareness of a multi-cultural environment and foster their understanding of and respect for foreign cultures. As far as the participating institutions are concerned we would like to point out that they, too, will benefit as the students will become their prospective employees once they have graduated from school. Where will the project take place: In Slovenia Time frame: as stated in the application
