Newbury House - SplatterVan
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

This is a creative entrepreneur project will allow a group of 4 young people to set up a mobile workshop cooperative called "The Splatter Van", which will travel around the country to various youth organisations and festivals to do workshops with young people. Our aim is to provide a fun, unique and mobile space for positive community interaction. Through using peer facilitation methods we wish to encourage the active citizenship of young people by using urban arts such as Graffiti, Rapping, Break dancing, Digital media, Dj-ing and art. We aim to facilitate creativity and to encourage young people to use their own initiative in order to express their own ideas and share them with their communities as well as providing opportunities to link with other diverse communities. One of the stand out features of this van is that it would get a new face every where it goes - the young people are allowed to re-paint the van with a new art piece at each location. The funding will allow us to get the necessary training and direction needed to go about setting up a sustainable business model from which we can run these various workshops from. It will also allow us to develop the van to make it suitable for workshops and enable us to run pilot workshop and engage in training in methodology
