NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE LANGUAGE CLASS

The project emerges in a context of wide and growing search of new methodologies and tools that innovate, revolucionice and encourages the teaching practice, making students and teachers feel more enthusiastic. The concerns of the teachers in our school, specially those that participate in this project, evolves from the different necessities of our students and to the need of coming closer to the world of the youngest (new technologies) and provide the adults with the new technologies as a vehicle of cultural enrichment. In this new era of education, students must be the core of the classroom and the teaching and learning process. This project tries to integrate the foreign languages, the ITCs and the comunicative competence (understanding this in its widest sense, get to know the sociocultural aspects of the language)This program allows the self-learning making easier and monitoring the search of sociocultural aspects of different countries through language and the ICTs, through questionnaires and creation of videos (with Powtoown,…), Powerpoint presentations, podcasts,… and through the watch of films in O.V., where relevant sociocultural aspects will be the key in the films.This projects is fully integrated in the curriculum, as the contents and the objects bring together all the characteristics…… As far as the basic competences are concerned, we will promote the digital competence, the competence of learning to learning, the emotional competence, the interpersonal and personal competences, the sociocultural competence, the artistic competence and the linguistic competence.A great impact of this project is expected because it will make students be active in their learning process (preparing PowerPoint presentations of different European countries, having to fill in quizzes and forms, writing twits and using facebook,… This will generate a bigger interest for the learning of foreign languages and anything referring to them. The students will learn to look for relevant information, to make summaries, to select photos of interest historically and culturally speaking and worth seen. Students will use the Google Earth to get familiar with them. Together with this, we will foster the interpersonal relations between the students in our school. We cannot forget that raising interest in other cultures and looking into different aspects of them, students will feel closer and integrated in Europe, feeling themselves a part of it.Number and profile of the participants:- A teacher of the Scientific-Technological Department, graduated in Biology, member of the managing team (Headmistress).- Two teachers of the Sociolinguistic Department, (the Head of the Department, graduated in Translating and Interpreting in English and the teacher in charge of the training area of the school, graduated in English Studies). Description of the activities*During the training in Europe:-Assistance to the learning sessions.-To contact with other European countries to exchange experiences and carry out possible future projects.-Creation of videos, webpages, hashtags, Instagram, Web 2.0, ClipFlait,…-Cultural visits.*During the school year 2016-17-Creation of questionnaires and interviews,-Initial, formative and summative assessment.-Creation of the blog to spread the project: centrodeadultosdaimiel.blogspot.com-Use of social networks such as facebook, twitter with cultural aims.-Making up of videos (Powtoon) or PowerPoint presentation.-Use of the platform ClickFlair to learn languages.-Watch films in V.O.-Contest of international kitchen.-Get familiar to Google Earth and virtual visits.The participants will gather in a memory everything learnt during their assistance to the course. The knowledge and experiences learnt will be shared with the rest of the teaching staff in departmental meetings and with the students involved in the group works of the project.MethodologyThe methodology used will be active and eclectic, with a globalizing, integrating and humanistic approach, which will be able to give response to the students’ characteristics and types of intelligence.An efficient methodology consists of the interaction of the students in their learning process in active way, where meaningful learning by means of discovery and research will be given priority.Promote among teachers and students the willingness to improve the teaching and learning process.Potential long-term benefitsThe opening to Europe and their learning, not only in terms of language, but the possibility to enter in the European labour market. As referring to the teaching staff we will count on better trained teachers and in accordance with the century we are living in. The teacher will be willing to innovate in their classroom.
