New Opportunities for Volunteering Access
Start date: Sep 1, 2015,
End date: Aug 31, 2017
The “New Opportunities for Volunteering Access” (NOVA) project is aimed at all youngsters willing to get involved across Europe as volunteers. It will give the opportunity to 20 youngsters to go to various countries and implement diverse activities based on their personal interests and expectations regarding their long-term projects.
Eleven European partners are involved in this project, and will collaborate from France (ADICE, PIJ d’Hellemmes), Italy (LINK, Vicolocorto, CESIE), Greece (KANE), Austria (AK Tirol), Spain (EDUCERE), Germany (AWO), Sweden (HFA) and Romania (Gipsy Eye). Each partner organization has proved its expertise in hosting and/or sending volunteers, including youngsters with fewer opportunities.
NOVA is especially adapted to youngsters with fewer opportunities, as it plans 10 mobilities for short-term periods of 2 months. These short-term EVS will give the volunteers the opportunity to experience a first initiation to European mobility.
10 long-term mobilities are also foreseen, intended for youngsters who are already more autonomous.
Two preliminary visits will allow a meeting beetween ADICE and the new swedish and spannish partners to prepare the EVS missions and the reinforced mentorship.
The quality of project coordination and of the support provided to the enrolled youngsters will be ensured thanks to, among other things, ADICE's and its partners' tools and methodologies (Pedagogical process, Mobility booklet, Database …), which have been developed and have proven their efficiency through previous projects.
The EVS projects will take place in various fields of activity (social, cultural and environmental, youth sector …) and will be aimed at the development of the participants’ personal projects while conducting general interest missions which will benefit local communities. Most activities will target young people. These activities will be even more enriching thanks to the intercultural exchanges they will foster between the local staff, young volunteers and local communities.
Through the mobility and European commitment of young people, the “New Opportunities for Volunteering Access” project aims more specifically at:
- Giving access to volunteering opportunities to all youngsters;
- Fostering the acquisition, development and capitalization of personal, professional and social skills of participants;
- Facilitating the integration of the young volunteers after their return (enrolment in studies or a new training, finding a job, conducting a personal project, undertaking a new mobility project abroad such as an internship or a Civil Service …);
- Networking European partners for the exchange of good practices, tools and methodologies regarding the support to and the inclusion of youngsters with fewer opportunities;
- Promoting European programmes and mobility opportunities;
- Valuing European commitment and citizenship.
The planned activities will thus ensure the long-term impact of the NOVA project.
For its participants, the project will especially enable them to develop and strengthen personal, professional and social skills in order to facilitate their integration after their return, whether by helping them finding a job, getting enrolled in a new training, conducting their personal project or preparing a new international mobility.
Moreover, by involving both former and new partners in this project, ADICE wishes to strengthen and develop its European network. The exchange of good practices and tools will help each partner improving the quality of its method. By addressing issues encountered by each partner’s target group, the NOVA project will also enable involved organizations to adapt to new target groups.
Finally, each local community hosting a volunteer in the context of the NOVA project will benefit from their involvement and from intercultural exchanges, while learning more about mobility opportunities offered by the European Union.
