" New European Dialogues " is the title of the project in which a young volunteer from Belgium is going to take part in a long-term European Voluntary Service in Moldova. The service will last for one year. JAVVA will be the sending organization, LOIZ will be the local receiving organization and ADVIT Moldova will act as EVS contact point outside the RO.The association for the protection of animals "LOIZ" is a non-profit organization. We started as an organization in 2013. Even though our organization is still young, we strongly believe that we can bring our energy and enthusiasm into a matter of homeless animals. Our team consists only from volunteers, who dedicate money, time and care to help animals. This care is given through various activities which may include not only rescuing stray dogs from the harsh city streets, but essentially finding them new homes. In between these two main objectives volunteers work with the animals to make sure they are healthy, people- and animal-friendly, as well as ready for adoption. Thus, regular activities of volunteers include: finding financial help for the organization, working at the rescue center (which would include cleaning the kennels, cooking the food, making sure everything is going as it should - that all animals are in good condition and health, playing with the animals, and so on,) promoting the popularity of the center so that more individuals know of its existence. The target groups we work with vary among backgrounds, age groups, career paths, etc. This may include school aged children, college students, beginning professionals, those who are retired, etc. The LOIZ work team consist of president of the organization, vice-president, three activists and a veterinarian. At the present time we host around 180 dogs in our volunteering rescue center for homeless animals "The Island of Hope". Our main goals and objectives are : Implement and adapt a National Law on Protection of Animal Rights;Using sterilization to reduce the overpopulation of stray dogs;Save and protect street animals from cruelty;Adaption program through public information and Mass Media;Raise awarenesses in the society by creating different educational programs, targeting especially youngsters through concerts and participation in markets and other gatherings. The volunteer will help with realization of the objectives of the host organization and will gain experience in connection with organizing and developing activities for the beneficiaries of the hosting projects that will enrich their language skills, communication abilities, understanding and will foster intercultural learning for all the parts.
