New chances for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
Start date: Dec 1, 2008,

Three Silesian Diacony centres that deal with social inclusion of young people, will be hosting a job shadower from the polish organization "Centre of Christian Mission and Evangelization (CME), for ten days. Both participating organizations feature a long term mutual cooperation based on educational activities and short-term visits as both of them are active among children and young people. Meanwhile Silesian Diacony developed a full-range work among young people who have become caught in various difficult situations of life and offers them counselling for encouragement and support, therapeutic workshops to get work habits, holds courses for them, communicates with employers in order to help them find placements, is in touch with local authorities, offers initial job assistance, etc. The main purpose of the intended job shadowing is to get experience and to be involved in all activities needed for running such centres, to become familiar with the beginnings, challenges and achievements and mediate best practices to the polish participant whose organization faces similar problems within its site of action. CME intends to start similar work among disadvantaged young people in the south of Poland who mostly come from disadvantaged backgrounds, drop out from school, have psychic problems or problems with alcohol. Because of that they are not able to find a job within an area of high unemployment.
