The aim of the course is to raise participants' awareness of the principles and practice of the use of technology in language teaching. The participant shall gain confidence in her own technology skills and increase her kowledge of how technology can be used in teaching a foreign language. E.g. the interactive whiteboard which has recently been implanted in almost all classrooms of the Stadtteilschule Eppendorf offers a wide range of possibilties for foreign language teaching. But also using technologies like webquests, Web 2,0, Blogging, Social Networking, PowerPoint, Audio Recources, Podcasting, Skype und ePortfolios can bring the world into the classroom and help communicating with foreigners. They make lessons more authentic, and more intesting for the pupils and teachers. Especially in regards to very heterogenic learning groups technical tools can assist a wide range of teaching styles and methodologies which help in making tasks more individualised and varied. On her return we expect the participant to share her ideas and materials with the other staff members of the foreign language departments.
