Neighbours in active business actions (Neighbours)
Start date: Sep 30, 2012, End date: Mar 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main milestone of this project is the opening of two business support centres (in Pisz, Poland, and in Daugai, Alytus district, Lithuania). The centres will encourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the borderline region to cooperate through business networking. So far there have been no such business support institutions in the mentioned municipalities notwithstanding the demand was high as SMEs do not have significant financial, technological or production capacities for development of their activities outside the local market. Expected Results: The partners of the project aim to promote and support local SMEs - face to face meetings, where the companies will exchange information, experience and discuss future joint ideas to promote their business, will be initiated. It is expected that the promotion of SMEs will have a positive effect on the reduction of the unemployment in Pisz and Daugai. During the implementation of the project numerous actions are foreseen: 2 conferences, 2 exhibitions and 4 study visits will be organised. Furthermore, it involves competitions for the best business ideas with prizes - drawing up the business plans with the help of professional consultants, creation of the projects website with a database with cooperation offers of Polish and Lithuanian companies as well as publishing booklets for promoting the companies.
