Junior High School „Gimnazjum number 1 in Miechow” aspires to participate in the Programm Erasmus +, The Action KA1 – Educational Mobility to become a modern, European school which supports and motivates students according to the 21st – century standards. To meet students and parents` expectations, high level of language teaching is our priority as well as mingling a command of English and German with a great variety of educational activities.
The aim of the project is the school development by rising its effectiveness in the fields of: school management, increase of methodological competences in foreign language teaching, training teachers to introduce elements of English language in different subjects, increasing students` motivation to learn, use foreign languages in everyday life, familiarise with the cultures of European countries.
The participants of the project will be: managing staff: a head – teacher and vice – head teacher, teachers of English, Polish, German, Maths, IT, Physics, PE, and Art; totally 11 teachers.
The designed activities include;
1. Supplying the school library in readers comprising a set of compulsory books used in the classes of Polish language to motivate students to study foreign languages by reading orginal books.
2. Language preparation:
- managing staff for the managing trainings,
- teachers of Polish to read orginal novels,
- teachers of selected subjects to introduce their elements in English or to teach the subjects in English.
- PE teacher to introduce '' shaping characters by sport'' by contacting with sport fans from English speaking countries and shaping positive behaviours among the students involved in supporting clubs.
3. Improving methodological and language skills of English and German teachers to improve the quality of their work and their knowledge of the culture and ordinary life of the foreign countries.
The managing staff and the teachers will acquire the knowledge and skills from the courses of:
- management in education,
- language courses in different level of advancement,
- methodological,
- observational like Bi-Component
- special type suited for selected subjects in CliL system.
The Project will affect students, teachers and the process of school development. The results will be:
- motivating students to study fereign languages,
- acquiring English language skills by the managing staff and teachers:
- improving students` language competences,
- drama performances on different languages,
- reading books in foreign languages and comparing the art of translation,
- creating virtual tours
- using the Internet resources without language limits,
- using foreign languages educational programms
- using and developing language skils in practice by involvement in activities,
- by the proper teacher selection for the subject – based projects aimed to improving key competences of a good command of native language, foreign languages, maths, It and the skills of self – learning.
- By acquiring language competences by teachers to have international pen pals what will result in student exchange and introducing innovative and modern solutions in teaching and management.
The long-lasting effects will be the development of school by extending the educational offer which includes the classes with subjects taught in foreign languages, (CLiL system) and acquiring permanently language and subject competences. The crucial element of it is the repeatability of the results – new students enter the school each year and they will be taught by well – educated teaching staff. The process of popularising the information will result in encouraging other schools to participate in activities affecting the European Dimension of Education.
