Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project was entitled "Teaching English to pupils with special educational needs with the use of information and communication technologies." Its purpose was to train English teachers and educators working directly with students with special educational needs. It also raised their competence in the field of information and communication technologies, and thus strengthened their professional profile. The teachers acquired new innovative skills and exchanged methodological experience by job-shadowing in the foreign school and during training workshops. The project participants were be 5 teachers from John Paul II Primary School in Węgrów including English teachers and two assisting educators. All the teachers, as a major need to participate in the project reported the wish to improve their competence which results from the rapid development of information and communication technologies and the neccesity to use ICT in the process of teaching and learning in order to support people with disabilities. At present , it is particularly important to adapt teachers' own workshop to a changing world, and the interests of the students to follow their form of cognitive activity. During the project, the following activities were taken: participation in the international training on ICT, job-shadowing of teachers from school in Węgrów at the partner school, a summary of the project on websites and promotion of the results. The management and the evaluation of the project were led by two coordinators , who were responsible for all activities related to its proper implementation and evaluation, as well as final products. Promotion of the project was carried out on the websites of both schools. The achieved results of the project were: improved teachers' skills in the field of ICT, acquisition of new tools for their work, and the opportunity for them to exchange good practices. The implementation of the project, its main goal and specific objectives contributed to expanding the educational offers of partner schools, which increased the intellectual level of both teachers and students, and allowed wider access to education through the use of ICT. This will allow students to continue their education at a higher level in the future, reduce early school leaving and help them find employment.
