Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

CBS Hoffennevierboet will include the vision statement and pedagogical approach early foreign languages education English in the annual plan aims at making English as a foreign language an integrated part of the language education policy of the school. The school hopes to obtain the Early Bird certificate in 2016. The staff expects the teachers to master English at a sufficient level and wants to give as much support as possible in obtaining this level. The coming year thirteen teachers of Hoffennevierboet would like to enter an English language course at the Pilgrim institute in Canterbury. They will be given a training in fluency and listening skills in English. They will learn how to integrade English in their lessons and improve upon their grammar and spelling. Due to the teachers participation in this course they will improve their skills in organising the early foreign language lessons English. They will be able to contribute in the area of curriculum development for early foreign language learning and the selection of the best materials for the lessons. They will share their new knowledge and experiences with the other teachers in the school by means of a presentation and wil be putting together a projectbook with English lesson activities for all yeargroups of the school. We expect that the motivation of teachers to begin an E-twinning project or participate in a KA2 project will be higher by taking part in this course. This way we would like to embed the English language lessons in our education and curriculum. We aim to monitor and improve the quality of our foreign language education and we will do that under the guidance of Early Bird( oberservations by externals). Early Bird will grant a certification when Hoffennevierboet, during a inspection under the management of the Early Bird management, has shown to live up to the standard set by The Early Bird organization. Teamteaching and external observations will contribute in the establishing if the teacher behaviour and the fluency have improved due to participation of the training in Canterbury. External (by Early bird) or internal observation (by members of the English language committee) can be used to establish wether the school policy concerning early foreign language learning English has deleoped and if it is secured in the organisation of the school.
