Our project is focused on improving the knowledge and expertise of our staff and to raise the level of the English lessons in our school. In our schoolprotocol we decribe the goals we want to achieve with early foreign language learning. A well contructed plan for scholing is an essential part of our protocol. In the past we were able to sent a number of our teachers to the United Kingdom to attend the course "Methodology & Language for primary teachers" offered by the Pilgrims organisation in Canterbury. In our experience teachers gain great confidence in their own language ability and are given a lot of useful ideas to shape their English lessons. We want our younger teachers to have the same experience. Recently we started to use CLIL lessons to enlarge the time we teach our pupils the English language. We would like to sent some of our teachers on a course to improve our expertise in CLIL lessons. So far the training courses in Canterbury have proven to be an enourmous boost in confidence and knowledge for our staff mebers. The positive effects are still visible in our school. Unfortunately there is still not much focus in our teacher training college on the English language and the teaching methods of a foreign language. Therefore it is important that our younger teachers are offered the opportunity to gain the nessesary extra knowledge through these training courses.
