Nascholingscursus(sen) in Engeland
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

A hugh development of 'vvto' (free translation: early foreign language education) at primary schools within the Netherlands, creates urgency and importance to the Prins Mauritsschool to go along with this development. According to our vision, providing of standard English methodology is not sufficient. By offering new skills to teachers, we aim to provide good and consistent quality, ensured for the future. Our team consists of approximatley 45 teachers, whom are willing to develop in all kinds of different ways to make sure 'vvto' is implemented in a succesfull way. Next to the provision of the methodology, we would like to submerge our colleagues in knowledge about the English language and didactic skills. We would like to stay at an English family to be able to work and live according to the English culture and language 24/7. Back home, we will share our experiences and knowledge with our colleagues (app. 35 persons) and make sure this knowledge will be applied in all classrooms. The trip to Canterbury will make our teachers are even more enthousiastic to develop from vvtoEnglish to CLIL (Content Learning Integrated Languages). Expectation on the long term is having children which are provided with a higher level of English at the end of primary school. Their vocabulary will be significantly grown, as well their ability to understand the English language (by listening) and ability to speak English. As a result they are able to start at a higher level of English at secondary school. Also their opportunities at the international labormarket will extensively grow if their skills regadering the English language will be maintained after primary school.
