EAEA is a transnational, non-profit NGO with 116 members in 40 European countries. The aims of the work programme are to improve European policies by linking them to the practice of adult education (AE) in Europe and beyond; to propose a strategy for increased basic and transversal skills levels; to raise awareness of AE in other LLL policies in the EU; to contribute to the Open Method of Coordination;In order to achieve these aims and to make a real contribution to the objectives of the ET 2020 strategy, the EAEA plans to undertake the following activities in 2014:1. Information and communication strategy (Provision of information and services for EAEA members to facilitate networking and good practice examples, dissemination activities, etc.)2. Contributing to the implementation of AE public policy (Lobbying and advocacy through statements, meetings, participation in working groups, Strong involvement in relevant policies through participation in EC activities, working groups and committees, cooperation with national coordinators, feedback to and from members etc.) 3. Policy briefings (capacitiy building of the EAEA membership and AE community)4. Analysis of country policies in Adult Education (civil society feedback on policy implementations in member states, feedback on implementation of Renewed European Agenda for AL, as well as basic- and transversal skills levels and trainings). 5. Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Adult Education and Development Cooperation (development of strategy plan) 6. General Assembly (Decision-making in the association; Monitoring and evaluating the action plan)7. Development and increasing of EAEA membership (intensifying membership contacts and outreach to new members)8. Meetings of the Executive Board (descision making of the association, support to members and outreach to new members, advocacy for AE)9. Grundtvig Award - annually awarded Prize for an outstanding product / project result in Adult Learning (this year´s theme: World War I and the Future of Europe) and publication of Grundtvig Award submissions10. Networking and partnerships with other stakeholders from various sectors in and beyond Europe11. Support in participating in the Erasmus + programme to EAEA membersThe planned impact: improve European policies, to link them to the practice of adult education in Europe and beyond; awareness for adult education in other LLL policies of the EU, preparing our members for European developments and help develop civil society strategies; help the exchange of good practice, contribute to the improvement of quality; disseminate events, publications and project results; The EAEA work plan is adopted by the General Assembly and the Executive Board sets the objectives. The Secretary General with the support of staff in Brussels and Helsinki is responsible for the management and the implementation of the work plan. An internal evaluation system has been developed. Internal indicators are used for each of the concrete activities in order to monitor the work and assure high quality.
