The knowledge economy and the demand for 21st century skills are transforming education and training. Young people must come to see the relevance of what they are learning at school. When they leave formal education, they should be marketable in today’s rapidly changing workforce. This is why, alongside solid grounding in traditional subjects, the key competence for entrepreneurship and initiative has become more essential than ever. JA-YE Europe believes that young people who have had entrepreneurial experiences as part of their schooling will ultimately be more confident of their abilities—whether they choose employment or entrepreneurship later on. The positive outcomes and impacts are thanks to the strategic partnerships built between schools and the communities around them that are core to JA-YE's approach: young people are exposed early on to diverse adult role models, to the world of work and to real world challenges.
