MythBusters
Start date: Jun 7, 2016, End date: Mar 6, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

A relevant issue in youth and also in our society is the importance of traditional values and the protection of the identity. Every country which has a globalisation process phenomenon, has a serious danger to a national culture. When individuals' mobilisation and refugees stream increase, the new challenges of intercultural communication and ethnicity development appear. How nowadays Lithuanians or other European look like, and behave, how meets foreigners from different countries and with different appearance? One of the priorities of the project is to deepen understanding, confidence, and the continuous cultural communication between Lithuanians and citizens from other countries. The project is for 16 – 22 years old youth. Young people for 10 days are going to be involved in the active, informal education methods based on different activities. The project has a wide spectrum of activities: active tasks outside, discussions about refugees, international evenings, presenting participants' cultures, etc. An intensive work going to be in discussion groups, which result is to formulate and look deeper at the challenges. It is going to be like a message to the society, how to prepare for refugees arrival, how to help them to adapt better to a new environment, help them to understand more cultural, religious, physical, mental differences, how to decrease the negative reaction of society towards refugees. We are positive about youth enthusiasm and creativity, that it will helpt to decrease the xenophobia in the society. We also want to emphasise the importance of empathy in the society by encouraging youth to undertake actions, reach goals, broaden the World outlook while working with youth from different countries.
