Muutoksen tuulet
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ project in Postipuu School will focus on updating our teachers' training, developing professional know-how and European networking. Our intention is that all 14 teachers can attend the course they have chosen, so that they can develop and enrich teaching, pedagogical knowledge and skills as well as motivate our teachers in their work. Developing our school has always been very important to us. Now that our school's English language teaching is moving to a new school, it is actual to focus on our special education and Finnish mainstream education classes to find good practices and functions to further develop our school and cooperation. The new national core curriculum will change in 2016, which means we need new ideas and thoughts as we are currently working on the school curriculum. We have put emphasis on the following areas in our Erasmus+ project: supporting and teaching children in the special support stage (Finnish support system for pupils with learning difficulties: general, intensified and special support); integrating our pupils with severe learning difficulties and preventing social exclusion; socializing, socially integrating and supporting our immigrant pupils as well as using interculturalism to our benefit; developing our ICT education and utilising our versatile education technology; improving our language skills, cultural knowledge and language awareness; and developing our teaching and multi-faceted pedagogy. Our intention is that our teachers attend courses focusing on these topics. We hope that the Erasmus+ project will help us create a wide network with European schools and colleagues and we can continue to cooperate in the future as well. We are looking forward to getting new ideas to develop our school's curriculum. Our intention is that through this project the pedagogical use of ICT will become an integral part of teaching and learning. We hope to see how integration and inclusion of special education pupils as well as prevention of social exclusion in Europe, so that we can use that to develop special education in our school. Embracing the richness of multiculturalism and expanding it in our school is one of our goals. Our aim is also to develop further and have more variety in our teaching skills and pedagogy. We also hope that the Erasmus+ project with its courses will bring us joy, excitement and activity into our daily tasks as teachers in Postipuu School.
