Our project "Musica oltre le barriere" saw 40 boys of two associations: "Miss 48" Izmir Turizm Folklor GSK "deal with, inRuoti (PZ), the issue of racial discrimination between people because it's a problem very diffused among European people, despite they signed the Charter of Fundamental Rights and because Turkey still is not part of UE and still has not signed the Charter. The reason why we decided to address this issue is the need for training and inform young people on this phenomenon in order to combat it (main objective of the project). Specific objectives: -know deeper another culture (through moments of relax such as Italian, Turkish or intercultural nights), but also through non-formal activities designed especially for the attainment of this goal. - Improve the knowledge of foreign languages, English in particular. The activities in fact took place in this language. - Know stereotypes and prejudices related to people and learn how to overcome them because, very often, related only to ignorance. But not only about racial discrimination we discussed during the exchange. We also talked about music and how it can be a means for combating this phenomenon because it promotes positive values. In fact, at the end of the exchange, the young people have ventured into the construction of two dances, based on typical Italian and Turkish music and also involved people outside the project. All this after the official presentation of the project to which we invited to take part also other people. We also created a DVD with the presentation of the project and some photos of the dance that young people have danced together to persons who have found this initiative very interesting. This dvd was then spread among the citizens of Ruoti. In addition to the DVD we have updated our websites and had published several newspaper articles on the exchange. According to young people has been a fantastic experience that has definitely contributed to their growth given the sensitive topic and interesting project.
