Music Masters on Air: European Broadcasting Festival
Start date: May 1, 2010,

The Music Masters on Air: the European Broadcasting Festival (MusMA) pitches young musicians beyond the boundaries, straight in the air. The essence of this initiative is to achieve a powerful cooperation between festivals and broadcasting structures in the promotion of young creative musicians and composers in Europe. Presently, 7 major European festivals - representing 7 different European countries - present the framework around which this project will be built.Additionally the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the European Festivals Association (EFA) and the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC) are willing to participate. The main focus of MusMA is the promotion of new projects of classical music. Young, creative composers and artists invigorate music with new ideas, new visions and new means. Hence, they should also be given the chance to bring their creations to the public, beyond the national boundaries. Moreover MusMA takes up challenge to move people to more deeply discover the diverse sounds of new and innovative classical music by putting it into an approachable frame - a stately artistic ambition. Each festival suggests an own project, which is somehow centred on a common topic; this year MusMA focuses on "Music & Environment". And support of the EU is aimed to substantiate the mobility of these artists. The basic reason for the creation of the MusMA is the great difficulty that young/new/emerging classical musicians and composers experience in the promotion and distribution of their creations. The 7 major European festivals, with the patronage of the European Union, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the European Festival Association (EFA) want to contribute to solve this contemporary problem by setting up this project. MusMA must be considered as a vast factory, with a dynamic created through real chances for the musicians, platforms for new music and an amount of discovery matter for the public.
