Music for inspiration of Cross border cooperation and Culture dialogue (Dialogue of music)

Due to deterioration of economic situation in the Region in many national and municipal schools are lack of financial means in order to provide high quality teaching process and to attract new students. The Secondary Music school of Jelgava city is one of the nine national music high schools in Latvia and serves as methodical center of Zemgale region, where are involved 17 professional music schools of closest neighbourhod. Siauliai 1st music school is one of the biggest and most respectable music schools of the city. In the past both neighbor cities schools have had successful cooperation in the field of exchange of experience, personnel and students`, common concerts and festivals. But by force of different circumstances this cooperation was interrupted. Both neighbour music schools are keen to renew successful cooperation in the field of musical education and in the field of cultural events in order to promote society’s intellectual development. As both neighbour cities always has been closely related by economic and cultural cooperation and as in both cities are considerable neighbor nationalities` communities such cross -border cooperation between two music schools is vital and necessary for integration of society, too.The objective of the project is to promote cooperation of neighbour schools in the matters of provision of competitiveness of both music schools` students at international level by improvement of quality and assortment of existing music instruments` and by ensuring of modern updated teaching programs in order to furnish long term cross border mutual activities in the field of musical education and cultural events. The project sub-objectives are: cooperation between music schools of Jelgava and Siauliai cities within the framework of which would be: 1. organized personnel and students` exchange, 2.fortification of the material basis needed, 3. organization of joint international culturar and music events. The project activities include: 1. organization of master classes which will be concluded by concert and festivals; 2. international competition of new pianists (Jelgava); 3. International choir festival (Siauliai); 4. Festival of accordions musicians (Jelgava); 5. Competition of wind and percussion instruments performance (Jegava); 6. Friendship concert (Sialulai); 7. Camp of brass bands (Jelgava); 8. Festival of wind instruments and various percussion instruments (Siauliai); 9. Camp of young pianists (Siaualia). The beneficiaries of the project are: teachers and students of both neighbour schools, also of other music schools of the Zemgale region and Siaulia city and inhabitants of Jelgava and Siauliai. Expected Results: During the project there will be 4 music festivals: International piano festival (1 day – 80 pers.) and “Different rhythms” (1 day – 80 pers.) and Brass and percussion ensemble festivals (1 day, 200 pers.) will be organized at Siauliai city and Festival for accordionist’s players (1 day – 70) will be organized at Jelgava city. Festivals allowing both (PP2 and PP3) students familiarize with teaching process and to become acquainted each other. Arranged charity concert “Bridge of friendship” which will be shown all the new and improved skills of participants resulted in performances which shall be acquired during camps, master classes and festivals. Arranged 2 camps – “Brass Band” (5 days at Jelgava with 100 persons) and “Sounding String” (7 days at Siauliai with 80 persons). Organized master classes as for teachers as for students of PP2 and PP3 from December of 2011 till December of 2012 thereby improving their knowledge and skills and diversifying teaching programs and process.During the project there will be organized 1 choir concert „Laudate Dominum” which will participate 200 persons from LT and LT. The project foresees that at least 950 persons from the target groups from project area will be involved in project activities. The number of people benefiting from this kind of "grass roots" cross border events is even greater, for all the project activities provide ways to participate also for other representatives of the local communities. The preparation work for these events will also strengthen the cooperation among the experts from local municipalities and schools.
