Professional development of two general subjects teachers is planned in the project of Daugavpils Design and Art Secondary School "Saules skola"- "Modern educational environment for competitive profession acquisition". The teacher of history and art history plans to acquire the methodology of history and art history teaching using modern technologies in Portugal and Italy. The English language teacher plans to acquire the methodology of teaching Business English in Malta and the usage of tablets in educational process in Portugal. School has renovated premises, modern equipment, ambitious future plans, the support of municipality. Thus, implementing this project, the first stage in professional development of teachers will be done. Modern, competent teacher with international experience, knowledge of foreign languages and IT methodology, is the key of success for the development of the school and pedagogical achievements. The necessity of pedagogical development is defined by the increasing importance of vocational education in the country. The methodology acquired in the courses would help to create the boundary between different subjects, boundary beteween general and specific professional subjects. The methodology acquired in the courses would help to connect knowledge with practical usage, work in the city environment, museums, work with modern technologies and tablets. The acquisition of history and art history in the environment would let evaluate the topicality of the acquired profession and its connection with demand in labour market. The acquired new business English teaching methods would foster the competitiveness of school's students and graduates in international labour market. The usage of new information technologies in the process of education would motivate the students to acquire different subjects with more trust and interest. The general subjects in vocational school would complement and help to acquire the chosen profession.Teachers' professional development would be the prerequisite to the school's further development as Latgale's Regional Design and Art Education Competency Centre (Competency Centre of Vocational Education) with proficient teachers. Teachers' international experience would foster the work of the school's projects: more qualitative and wider activity in eTwinning platform, and it would create a good basis for other forms of Erasmus + projects. The expected time of project implementation- two years.
